Kathmandu, June 20 – In a major fiscal relief move, the Bagmati Provincial Government has announced a vehicle tax and penalty waiver for vehicle owners who have not renewed their registration for several years. This provision, introduced through the Fiscal Year 2082/83 budget, aims to encourage long-delinquent vehicle owners to settle their dues and regularize their documents.

According to budget clause no. 214, any vehicle owner who has failed to renew their vehicle registration certificate or pay vehicle taxes under the prevailing laws up to FY 2081/82 will be eligible for a full waiver on older dues provided they pay taxes, renewal fees, and penalties for the last three fiscal years (FY 2080/81, 2081/82, and 2082/83) by the end of Jestha 2083.

“If vehicle owners pay all outstanding taxes and renewal fees for the last three fiscal years by the end of FY 2082/83 Jestha, they will receive a full exemption on previous fiscal years’ taxes and related penalties,” states the official budget document released by the Bagmati Province Government.
